Andy Goss, Chair
Andy is beginning his fourth year on the Gorman Christian Academy school board. He is a member of Gorman Baptist Church and works with many of the ministries at Gorman including teaching the 5th/6th Grade Sunday School class, the AWANA ministry, and the Upward Sports programs. Andy is married to his best friend and wife of 8 years, Paige. Andy is a graduate of NC State University with a major in Business Administration and Personal Finance. Andy is employed at Gateway Bank and Trust, a community bank, where he manages the secondary marketing operations of the mortgage subsidiary, DNJ/Gateway Bank Mortgage.
David Hawkins, Vice Chair
David is serving in his fifth year on the Gorman Christian Academy school board and is the father of Jenna and Caleb. Jenna is a graduate of GCA and Caleb is a sixth grader this year. He is a member of Gorman Baptist Church and serves in several ministry capacities including the GBC deacon board, “Men of Impact” Sunday School class teacher, and helps administer the GBC Upward Sports program. David is a registered Professional Engineer and is employed by HNTB Corporation, a national consulting engineering firm, as a Senior Structural Engineer. David earned a BS in Civil Engineering from Clemson University and an MS with concentration in Structural Engineering from North Carolina State University.
Kay Walker, Secretary
After several years off the Board, Kay has returned to start her 4th term as a member of the Gorman Christian Academy School Board. She has been a member of Gorman Baptist Church for 47 years and along with her late husband Norman, has been involved with many of the ministries at Gorman. She is currently Co-chair of the Decorations committee, is on the Bereavement Meals committee, active in the Women’s Embrace Mission group, and a member of the Worship Choir. She and Norman have three children and two grandsons. She and Norman were both actively involved in establishing the Early Learning Center. Their youngest son was in the first graduating class, and their youngest grandson is an alum of the Academy. Kay attended Croft Business College, was former owner of Kay’s Flower and Gift Shoppe, and retired from Duke University Law School and Duke Medical Center after 30 years of service. She is honored to be on the Board again and is looking forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for Gorman Christian Academy and the Early Learning Center.
Brian is beginning his second year on onthe Gorman Christian Academy school board. He has been married for 23 years to his wife Charlene. They have 3 daughters and 1 son. The three oldest have all graduated from Gorman and his youngest is in 3rd grade currently. Brian and his family have been members at Gorman Baptist Church for the last 7 years. Brian attended Campbell University where he studied computer science and wrestled for the Camels. He is currently the General Manager for both Deacon Jones Nissan and Deacon Jones Honda. He has been in the automotive industry for 28 years. Brian is excited to serve in the board for Gorman Christian Academy and is looking forward to the bright future ahead for the Eagles.
Karen is serving her second year on the GCA school board. She is the busy mom of three active boys. Aiden who is currently a 4th grader at GCA, Alexander is a 2015 GCA graduate attending high school and Aaren is a recent high school graduate who plans to begin college after a short break. Karen is the wife of Karl and they will soon celebrate 21 years of marriage. She attends Gorman Baptist Church regularly with her family. Karen currently serves on a GCA committee diligently working towards ACSI accreditation. She is honored and excited for the opportunity to join the school board and looks forward to the wonderful works that will continue to be accomplished. Karen is a graduate from the UNC-Chapel Hill.
Karen is serving her second year on the Gorman Christian Academy School Board and is the mother of Destiny, a sixth grader at GCA. Destiny has been a student at GCA since Kindergarten. Karen is married to her husband Linwood of 22 years. Karen, Linwood and Destiny are active members of Body of Christ Church in Raleigh, NC. Karen is a graduate of North Carolina Central University and is employed by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in RTP as a HR database analyst. She has been employed with GSK for 16 years.
Darrin is serving his first year on the Gorman Christian Academy School Board. He looks forward to the opportunity in leading the school to prepare and capture hearts for Christ. Darrin and his family live in Creedmoor and are very active in the life of Gorman Church where they have been members since 2011. He serves the church in many ways as a Sunday School assistant teacher, Upward leader, Deacon and is active on other committees in the church. Darrin and Jeni have been married since 2005 and the Lord has blessed them with 3 children and a puppy dog. Darrin has both a secular and sacred background in education as well as vocational experience which affords him a well-rounded perspective in his service to the Lord. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Appalachian State and a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Seminary. Darrin has served churches in the past as an associate pastor and is currently working with the State of North Carolina as a regional Employment Analyst covering 15 counties for the Department of Commerce, Division of Workforce Solutions. He has been in this role since 2009 and monitors to ensure appropriate and consistent delivery of reemployment services are provided to citizens through the state's workforce system.
Terri is serving her first year on the Gorman Christian Academy school board. She is the mother of two GCA graduates who are both now in college. Her family are active members of Gorman Baptist Church. Terri is a graduate of Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she graduated as a Physician Assistant. She has served in various correctional health-care leadership positions in both state and federal governments. She currently serves as the Deputy Director, Health Services, for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. In addition, she serves as the National Co-Chair of the Correction Health-Care Authority within the American Correctional Association.
Lynda is serving her first year on the Gorman Christian Academy school board. She has been a member of Gorman Baptist church for 40 years and has served in many areas of the church. Lynda and her husband John of 58 years have three children. Her daughter attended preschool at the Early Learning Center, as well as her grandchildren, and she has a great-grandchild that attended the Early Learning Center and is now in kindergarten at the Academy. Lynda and her husband John were both involved in establishing the Early Learning Center. Lynda attended Watts Nursing School and has an Associate’s degree in Applied Science in the field of Business and Data Processing.
